Personal Globes
Students use a balloon to apply their new skills. When we work on learning equator, prime meridian, continents, oceans I give each child a plain balloon. Then they have to use a permanent marker to draw in the equator, prime meridian, continents and oceans. It helps them to really see locations of continents and their relationships to other continents. I also make them label all of it of course. They can use the book when doing this initially but without the book for a type of assessment.
Trip
This is a great hands-on activity that gives students the chance to plan their own adventure while also learning and applying geography skills.
