Thematic Units - Coin CombinationsCoin Combinations I attached small magnets (used magnetic tape) to money pieces (paper coin manipulatives from our math book). Two children take turns each day making all the ways to get a certain amount. If the day is Jan.23rd for example, they'd find all the ways to make 23 cents and put up the display on our magnetic chalkboard. During calendar time, they take turns reporting to the class what they did. Sometimes, they miss a way to do it and other students contribute. We do this until everyone has had 2 turns. Other students are responsible for taking down the coins and sorting them to be ready the next morning. |
