graduating!
I had a horrible school experience. Interesting that now I'm heading back on the other side of the fence as a teacher.

Haha,
Feybie makes me giggle.
Mine would have been being voted school captin, twice! That was very exciting for me! In 2004 I also received a leadership award in my local community through my school awards which I was pretty pleased with, however I associate with Feybie and very much looked forward to graduating because school was a horrible time for me too! Although I was lucky enough to have quite a few opportunities!
What about you, Priyaanka?

too long ago to remember! Probably time spent in the biology lab. Yes, I am a nerd.

I remember one teacher who was both sarcastic and unapproachable. I made sure when I became a teacher that I had none of these traits.

My favourite memory was a visit to our country's capital London. I got in with a bad crowd and we took off in the other direction when our poor teacher got on the tube. We had a fantastic day by ourselves in London but ended up in a police station late at night....I still blush thinking about this =)

I was not particularly fond of high school (or middle school). A little ironic I guess since I'm in secondary education.
If I think of one fond memory it would be of my 9th grade Algebra teacher. He had a great personality, a goofy, enjoyable sense of humor, and was always approachable. The only kids that didn't like him were the ones that were "too cool" to enjoy his humor. Even though I am primarily a social studies teacher, he had the biggest influence on me as an educator.

My favorite memory about Highschool is Debbie D. I enjoyed remembering her again. Happily married and all now. I liked volleyball the most. My 11th grade History teacher was color blind and always had us color historic images with colored pencils. I questioned him one time when I used only black ink and he gave me a lower score when he replied something how he didn't grade his own papers. Mrs K. was my absolute favorite teacher. 7th and 8th grade English. We used to swap Polish jokes. Mrs. K. you are the best. There was a day I signed myself in to ISS because Pam was in there that day and I figured I was in there so often I might as well today.

This might not be my favorite memory, but as I thought back on my high school days, this stuck out clearly.
A requirement for ARISTA (honor society) was to show up at school during 0 period before the official school day started to tutor our peers once a week. We would sit in this big conference room and we would chat. Not many people came for tutoring so it was mainly just fun for the members.
On the days that students would come, they would often tell a teacher and the teacher would bring the student in and ask something like, "Who's strong in chemistry?" Then someone who was more fit for the subject would tutor the student.
On one particular day, a student came into the room by himself. I could tell he looked intimidated. I mean, you're in high school and walking into a room full of "smarter" kids chatting in groups. You could tell that no one wanted to be interrupted to tutor. I was a quiet, shy girl, yet I somehow had the confidence to walk up to the guy and ask him what subject was troubling him. He told me it was math so for the next half hour or so, I sat there with him teaching him what he needed to know for his test that day. By the end of the session, he seemed to have a better grasp of the material even if he still wasn't completely confident.
He said thank you and left. I don't know if he remembered who I was or if we ever bumped into each other at school. I can't even tell you what he looked like right now. But I think that was one of the moments where I grew as a person. My mom would say that those were just examples of how she knew I should become a teacher!
