travel options?

anyone ever heard of teacher exchanges? I remember having a british teacher come to my pulic school on an exchange for a year, and another teacher in my highschool went to Ireland. I want to know how to get in on some of that travel action!

Alternatively anyone have any ideas for off-beat (English speaking) locations worth spending a few months in? I just want to go somewhere quiet(ish) with good pubs, AWAY from where I am right now!

I have no idea how it works in America but in the UK we can exchange anywhere in Europe. I have a 2 week exchange in October with a teacher in Toulouse France I am so excited....but my french is a little rusty so I will need to polish it up before I go
