Hi everyone. I'm doing courses for additional qualifications to teach middle and senior English. One of my assignments involves inquiry about methodology, pedagogy or practice. I would appreciate insight into the following questions:

Please share your experiences on classroom peer discussion and its effects on student writing. I'm particularly interested in the development of critical literacy in senior high school English writing as affected by peer discussion. Does it help accentuate critical literacy in writing? Does it make student writing more diverse and less concise? Is it a positive/negative influence? What factors make it so? How do we, as teachers help ensure a positive outcome? Can we?

I would also like some insight into scenarios where using open-ended questions in middle school English positively/negatively affects students' literary comprehension.
