I hail from N.J. but OK. is my home now. I wished at least just once it would snow here. I mean really snow. My first year here we had two inches on a Tue. night and they closed school for the rest of the week. This week we got like a half inch of ice and then a dusting of the white powder. School closed for three days! I am trying to explain to my children how much fun we would have if it snowed more than it does, we'd make snow families and angels and even igloos, but in ten years we haven't had but a total of one foot. Boring! I can remember playing outside all day long, everyday. Much like the comercial where the boy comes home and thaws out eating soup or something. We would get feet of snow back in N.J.. School still was opened too. I must admit now that I have aged some that I get cold quick, but just once maybe before I get too much older I wished we would get a good storm come our way. We did get to throw some snowballs at each other as well as at some strategic targets (work trucks that came rolling by) some drove around the corner and came and parked, caught us by surprise when they all got out of their trucks to get us back. They stayed and played for a little while. I was thankful for that! My kids and the neighbor kids will never forget it.

That is something I really love about where I live. We get to experience all the seasons. We have nice hot summers, beautiful leafy falls, rainy springs, and wonderful snowy winters!
We've had snow on the ground for over three weeks now. It is like about two feet deep. It has turned from powdery to more acceptable for packing. I wish I could send you some, but that isn't practical.
One thing you could do is buy Insta-Snow and fill a wading pool with it. The children could get the idea about building at least. I know it isn't the same though.

I love having all four seasons here in Michigan. There is nothing more beautiful than freshly fallen snow, hanging lowly on the evergreen trees outside my window. And there is no greater sound than that of "School is cancelled". An unexpected paid day off....get the crock pot going...make some homemade bread....., nothing can be due that day....just relax. I just wish winter was a little shorter, more like 3 months than 6. But I'm always ready for the next season when it gets here.

Thank you for posting here. It's nice to get responses rather than just readers. Everyone can have something to say about everything. I too love the changes of the seasons. Summer is my favorite though. I know people in Fl. that never saw snow or the changes of the color of the leaves on the trees or off of the trees as it becomes. I like to wear less clothing so Summer is definately the coolest time for me. My kids had school on Mon. to make up one of their snow days! So sorry some of you had to work on an expected day off!

We were open on Monday, but there were very few children in care. Most of kids did not come in.

So then Boxcar is that the same as a day off for you? You care to the little ones is that right? Did you just let those that showed have a fun day? Do your kids like to wear their pjs to school? My daughter always asks if she can!

We try to stick to the routine as much as possible. The little ones depend on it. Still, I think they really loved not having to share as much. We more relaxed about some of the rules. Plus, they got to have seconds on Snack and Lunch.
My kids do like to wear the pjs! Once in a blue moon, we do the video thing too. One of the cutest little girls came into the room wearing sweatpants one day. She pointed to her leg and goes "Mine pajamas!" Her mom says she calls anything that isn't jeans pajamas.
