Just to introduce myself, I am an aspiring teacher. I graduated from college this past year with an economics major but eventually want to get my teaching credentials to teach high school economics! ^_^

Well I came up with an idea to consolidate and collect all the knowledge and information of teachers and students around the country so that any student can log in to watch teachers/students alike explaining a concept in different ways.

For example, student A can login to the website, search for "Pythagorean Triangle" and a list of videos (uploaded from different people) would pop up describing it in their own words. So in a sense, it's as if a student can learn a confusing topic that he/she heard at school from different perspectives.

So my question now would be... how much of you teachers would be willing to upload videos for free ( no compensation for your time) or would monetary compensation be required?

(keep in mind students will most likely have to pay $5/month for access to this site, for site maintenance/upkeep/server costs)

I want to know if this idea is feasible before getting into it completely.. I feel this would remove the barrier of the walls of the classroom for education to be spread..

thanks for any of your input in advance. I will truly appreciate it.

This sounds like a good idea. The one thing you would have to be careful about is taping youself teaching a class. The classroom is confidential, and you cannot have any students' images or voices on camera without written permission.

That is just a little thing though. I think it would be a good idea.

I would do it, but if I'm doing it for free, I'd want it to be free to the kids.

I agree with Brit on this.

I think it is a great idea, but no fee for anyone. Upkeep of the site? Well let's see.... It is a great idea. Only one kid catches the fever... Waste of everyone's time and the "site" has $5. We are talking internet here!! Do you know how many $5.00 could be collected? If I am doing this, it will be for a site that might sell some advertising for maintenance.

LIKE THIS ONE!!

Plus, how would you get the $$$ from the students. PayPal? Then, you'll have that mess to deal with - the fees probably wouldn't get covered. Could maybe you get a channel on a site like YouTube and do that? Easy to keep up and in a place students already visit. Access through Google as well...

A wonderful concept but it should definately should be free to the kids. I think if the teacher ,I'm sorry peoples, if the teacher is having troubles conveying a lesson that it should as usually is be up to them to find the solution to their troubles! No?

well, as a teacher who frequently has trouble conveying messages the first time around, I'd personally love to see how other teachers do it!
