spelling test homework

Starting mid-year I start giving spelling test in Kindergarten. I give two homeworks to go with the test, a trace-and-write and a write three times. I'd like to add another hw this year but I'm not sure what. I was thinking of word shapes but I'm not sure everyone in my class would get the idea. Does anyone have any suggestions?

what about a matching activity, where they need to cut out the word and paste it over top of another copy of the word? then they can cut along the word shape to get the idea of the word shape, and glue it on top of the same word (they'd have to choose from a few options)?
