Does anyone have ideas for active warm up activities? I'm looking for new ideas to get kids moving and thinking, especially prior to taking standardized tests.
Thanks!:waving:

Put the kids into groups of three or four. Give each kid one of the standardized questions, give them the answer, and give them the proper model, responses or strategies needed to solve the problem. I do this with math questions for our state standardized test. The kid with the question and answer must review it carefully and be sure they know how the answer was received. The other three kids in the group must attempt to do that question. The person who got the question, answer, and explanation has to be ready to check the other two in the group. They have to be ready to explain to the others how to do it and get the correct answer. Therefore in a group of three, everyone is responsible for doing two out of three and learning and explaining how to do the third. I usually prepare these problems on large pieces of poster board or oak tag, and have them laminated. The problems is stated on the front and the explanation on the back. Everyone gets a turn to be the teacher. When all three are done, we rotate the cards so everyone gets a new card and two new problems to solve and one to learn to teach.
