From the moment I woke up this morning, I knew it was a Monday. As I slapped at my alarm clock, I knocked my glasses behind the bed. Try finding your glasses without your glasses on -- I'm too blind to see anything without them! Then when by some miracle I found them, they were missing a lense. Took me twenty extra minutes to find the lense, with one eye closed and the other squinting sleepily through my one lense.
I spilled my coffee all over my first outfit this morning and had to change into another. Luckily I remembered to do laundry last night. Then I stepped in a puddle that one of the cats or dogs decided it would be sweet to leave outside my door. My roommate made it to the shower before I did and used all the hot water, and I only ate three bites of breakfast before my ride to work showed up. (My car is out of commission and I'm relying on coworkers for transportation.)
On Friday, my para saw a mouse in the kitchen in our classroom and alerted the custodial staff. They set traps over the weekend. I walked in this morning, having forgotten all about this, and the room smelled like something had died in it. Which, of course, it did. Little mouse met his maker, and judging from the smell, I'm guessing it happened sometime shortly after we left on Friday, and he's been baking in the sunlight from the window ever since. Yuck yuck yuck. And I'm the girl who catches bees with a cup and saucer to set free outside; I don't like these mouse traps anyway. But I like them even less now that there is a dead mouse stinking up my classroom! ICK!!!
I think I forgot my lunch money, and when I got past the mouse and into my office, I had an e-mail reminder of two meetings: one this morning, during the only twenty minutes of planning time I get (while the kids are eating breakfast), and the other after school until six.
I can't wait until Tuesday. It's got to be better than Monday!
