I wasn't really sure where to put this, but I am almost done with my first trimester and am starting to show. I am due toward the end of March.

If anyone else who has been in this situation could reply and tell me when you told your students, how you told them, etc, I would appreciate it. I teach high school freshmen and one class of AP seniors.

Thanks in advance! :)

First be sure to tell your dept. chairperson and all administrative staff: principal and assistant principal/s. We have language in our contract that states if you are pregnant you must tell administration by the end of the third month in order for them to find a proper leave replacement. You might want to ask administration when you can tell the staff and the kids. That way you didn't step on anyone's toes. The kids at that age will be very supportive, encouraging, and sensitive to your needs. Feel well and best of luck!

I would wait until the kids ask.

Sorry, I should have clarified. Most of the staff already knows, except a few I plan on telling this week. :)

I agree you should wait until the students ask. That isn't the type of information you just volunteer. Because it has something to do with sex, it can get you into trouble. That is unfortuate, but you never know.

By the way, CONGRATULATIONS! Is this your first? Do you know if it is a boy or a girl? Do you WANT to know? Do you have names picked out? When are you due? I am so excited for you!

I am from a small town, so most of my students knew about an hour after I found out in the doctor's office. Well....maybe not that soon, but I didn't have to worry about telling them. Word travels fast in this town. I was teaching high school and my students were constantly asking questions and suggesting names to me.

Hope you have a great prenancy! It is an exciting time for you!

It might be fun to see how long it takes the kids to say anything. A co-worker didn't have a single kid say a thing until she was seven months along . . . and then the student asked ME, not her. LOL

Thanks. It's my first. I'm due March 27. We won't find out for a few more weeks what sex it is, but yes, we want to know. We don't have names picked out yet.

I've kind of done what Ima said below...just waited until the students ask me. For some classes, that didn't take long at all, but some others still haven't said a word! lol

You must really be excited. Are you going to let us help pick the names?

Well, on the bright side, its better than two of your students asking when you're due and you're not pregnant... *cries*

Congrats on deh bebe! :)

That's very exciting. I am only 19, so I have no plans for kiddies yet, but in the future yes and it's a very exciting thought! Have you considered any names at all?

P.S. Boxcar, I love your new pic! Is that with the theme of Halloween shortly?
