So I did this last week in class and it was awesome. I bought a fantastic book to guide me. I have a class of uninterested, sometimes behavioral students. When we did our draft--it took over an hour and you could have heard a pin drop in our room. They were so intense! And the math involved was amazing!

Wow! What a great idea! I'm sharing this with the math teachers at my school!

That is a great idea. I would not have thought of it. Of course, I don't have an interest in sports... It sounds like it works for you and your kids. Good job!

I have no interest in sports really either and I barely know what I am talking about! It's all in the book I bought! The other day I said something about one of the kids players getting lots of points because he made a sack or something and my teacher's aide was quick to point out that this was impossible since the player was a wide receiver (offense!) Oh well! THey're doing lots of advanced math for this group so.... I am glad I was able to cash in on their interests. THey do get a kick out of laughing at me too so that adds to the value of it! :D

They probably enjoy teaching you something too - all about sports. My students love to teach me things even if I already know them. For example, my shoes are always untied. I don't know why... So, my kids take turns showing me how to tie shoes. lol.
