I have a whole travel/road signs theme going on in my room but I am sort of stuck when it comes to my science bulletin board. For instance, I have all of my writing process posters done on the different race track flags. I have my reading bulletin board set up as a reading road trip with a map and such. I have ideas that I am kicking around but I need more. I am teaching physical science so I want to tie the idea of cars into that theme. Like I want to point out the radio and wavelength, relate the mirror to our concave/convex lesson, somehow work enregy transfer into the positioning of the car (like maybe on a ramp), maybe throw on a street light to illustrate that lesson. I have ideas but cannot visually think of how to pull this all together or what else to add. Please hit me with some more ideas and an overall theme or catchy title to help me pull this all together! I would really appreciate it!

For the light idea- Try using those low energy level Christmas light bulbs. You can tack the wire onto the paper and cork backing, but be sure the holder and bulb protrude off the board so its not in contact with the backing paper. You'll need to run and tack the wire, some way, that it become part of the scene and/or along the perimeter to the outlet. Before you do any of this, get clearance from administration. There may be some safety code you don't want to violate.

I do not teach science but the science teacher on my team uses Flat Stanley as theme on biomes. She called her version "Biome Bob." You may be able to incorporate this into you "travel theme." She had the students send letters, a questionairre and a paper man (Bob) to people they knew from different areas of the country/world. The recipients would fill out the questionairre and dress Biome Bob appropriately for their particular climate. We hung these in the hallway as people returned them. I thought it was a wonderful idea!

that's funny you say that! i have something very similar going on. we are participating in a mascot exchange with some international classrooms. i should add the idea of dressing him into the guidelines though. thanks for the idea.
keep them coming everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. i have all subjects to teach so the ideas don't have to be all science related. i just posted this because i was very stuck on that one empty bulletin board. i start tuesday and it is still empty!

Let me just tell you, I love coffee, and all my kids know it. I have taught entire geography units on coffee alone. My kids can tell you just about everything you want to know about South America. The would bring in so many travel ideas based on the coffee of the country. Silly, I know, but it was fun.
A science road trip would be nice where you can hit up points of interest based on where you would love to take your kids on a science field trip and provide pictures from there. From Epcot all the way to NYC museum of natural history.
Sharks was another unit. We had the entire world map and little sharks all over the place to represent the different kinds, what they ate, travel patterns, etc.
