I have a student who will be in ISS for the entire year. He is still my responsibility and I don't want him to fall through the cracks.

What would the best way of teaching him Biology be? I'm sending him stuff like "Write a story about a laboratory disaster. What could the person have done differently to prevent it?" (We are doing lab safety this week...it appears on the state exam).

Would something like writing newspaper articles once a week work?

I will try to visit with him this week also...

The entire year? That's tough!

The newspaper article sounds good, but every week all year might drive you and the child nuts.

Will the student have computer internet access?

I'm think a combination of written and interactive lessons. I don't see how an actual lab can be done without you in the room with the child. Unless s/he has a certified science teacher in ISS??

I am trying to get more details. I really need to go see him, just to give him some moral support. I am being encouraged to...so I will this week. I need to know his circumstances and what he'll be able to get done on his own.

After you have more information, post back and maybe we can help.

He's been withdrawn :( Shame because he did great quality work, for what he did do.
