Fresh Ideas?

I am a seasoned preschool teacher.....and we are studying "Family" during the first month of school. I have done this theme so many times and am wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions for things we can add to our centers.

I am focusing on extended family and we are doing a mini family tree. I am trying to find some creative things to add to blocks, art, science and all the other centers that correlate with this theme.

For science, you could do a basic discussion on traits being passed down. The kids can look at their own eye color, hair color, ear lobes attached/not, etc. Then they can compare to siblings, parents, grandparents.
