Looking for a Job 1st Timer

I'm from the Central Valley and I recently got my credential in Multiple Subject with CLAD as welll as an authorization for Social Science. I've been looking through Ed Join and applied for numerous jobs. However, i haven't gotten any calls or e-mails. I am thinking this is highly unusual. Can you tell me who you were hired? I think it would help me understand the process.

Face time! You have to get yourself out there!

After getting my degree, I applied to several schools. I was disappointed that I did not receive any responses to my applicaltions. Someone recommended that I apply for a substitute position with the county. I did that, begrudingly. I didn't want to be a sub; I wanted my own classroom! I was hired as a supply teacher the day before school started. I filled in for a teacher that was in six weeks of military training. It got my foot in the door. When the six weeks was over, the principal went out of her way to see that I had a follow-up assignment. I was hired for the rest of the school year at a nearby elementary school due to the recommendation of the principal. I am now working full time with that first school. It paid off to just get my foot in the door.
