8th grade Louisiana classes looking for pals

I would like to start a pen pal program, in August of 08, for 3 8th grade classes. Each class will contain 20-25 students. My students struggle with their writing and I am hoping a pen pal program will help. We are a medium Southwest Louisiana school. I would prefer students from out of the country, but in country is ok too. If anyone is interested please let me know and we can talk more about details.

PS I'm having problems with the map, it's not loading. Any suggestions?

Hey Staci,

The map is working for me. I tried IE, Firefox and Safari - all on Windows. Are you on a dial-up connection? I know it can be really slow for that. Do you see the "Loading..." pop-up, and does it go away? Also, can you see the different grades on the right side of the map? Tried clicking one?

We do have some listed out of the country for 8th grade including a few in Europe, and one in Australia.

I tried all of that. The problem is the loading icon never goes away. I am not on a dial up either. I even tried clicking the thumb tacks, nothing worked. I check for pop up blockers too. Any other suggestions?

Pop-up blockers won't have anything to do with this. If the loading icon never goes away, do you see the map with the pushpins in it? If you don't see the map, it would leave me to believe that your javascript is not working in your browser...

but if that was the case you should see a message just above the map box that says that we detected that you do not have javascript turned on.

Do you have a different browser you can try?
