I have been a classroom teacher for several years, and was recently named the new technology teacher for my K-3 school. I am looking for websites or forums where I can get lesson plans or general technology teaching ideas.

Google is always a great place to start. Also, look inside your own head... You'll be surprised how many ideas you can get from brainstorming for a time.

united streaming has lots and lots of video clips. I am not sure if your school needs to subscribe or not. I used clips of Ghandi when I student taught. The kids were awed by it.

Video is always a great illustrator. I will have to look into united streaming. Maybe I can find some things to use.

Have you tried incorperating your schools |VLE into your lessons IAM Learing is a great VLE where pupils can play revision games then practice at home to improve. The more they play the more they learn.

Its great i currently incorperate it in to most of my lessons. Its become part of the schools culture! PM me for more details.

You can also show students/teachers how to do webquests. San Diego State University has a huge file of webquests on almost every subject. They also have a template for creating them so you or your teachers can create them for your needs.

Hi! I teach K-8 computer science and find that students in K-1 are really in need of exploration of the computer. Software is key for their success! One particular project was the simple use of MS paint. Students created a picture (theme specific of course) and printed onto fabric. Compiling the quilt did take some work, however the reward is to see their work on fabric! Grades 2-3 would benefit from a typing camp. Learning the basics would be important.

Good Luck!

I totally love the idea of printing on fabric! I'd never thought of that. The children in my summer program would have loved that so much. They enjoyed the technology I brought into the room quite a bit.

The technology teacher in my school asks the classroom teachers what they are working on and then tries to design a lesson that fits. For example, we were studying the MidWest region, so she helped them to create a brochure about that region highlighting what we had learned. When we were working on tables and graphs in math, she had them do a survey and use Excel to organize their data.

She also uses our subscription to StarrMatica that has tons of virtual manipulatives, games and activities to support what we are doing in the classroom. The kids know to go to that site once they have completed the project they are working on. That is the tough part about technology because often times kids are finishing projects at different times or need to sit and wait for help with only one teacher.
