Hello, Fellow Teachers!

I am an emerging ESL teacher and graduate student as well as an artist. I would really appreciate your help in conducting a survey for my current research project on the usage of student art creation as a useful tool in second language learning. The purpose of this survey is to assess the extent to which elementary and high school English as a second language (ESL) teachers use this method of teaching with their students.

I am asking for participation in this study from both elementary school ESL teachers and high school ESL teachers. It is important for the sake of this study that you be an ESL teacher. However, knowledge and competency in the visual arts is not necessary to participate in the survey. The survey should take anywhere from 5-10 minutes to complete. When you have completed the survey, click the “Submit answers” button at the bottom of the page to send your responses to me. Make sure that you only submit your answers once. If you are interested in helping with my research, simply click on one of the links below, and make sure to complete the survey by June 19, 2008.

Participating in this survey is totally voluntary. You will not be asked to give your name, and results will be completely anonymous. Although each participant will be asked to indicate the state in which he/she teaches, there will be no way for me to locate the origin of individual responses. You will not be contacted for any additional information. If you do not wish to be involved in this study, simply disregard this post.

I hope to receive a lot of feedback and would love for you to participate in my research by clicking one of the links below that will take you to the brief online survey.

If you are an elementary school ESL teacher, please access your survey by clicking on the following link:

If you are a high school ESL teacher, please access your survey by clicking on the following link:

Again, I really appreciate your participation in my research and look forward to seeing the results. I realize that this is a busy time of year for everyone as the school year is wrapping up, so your help means a lot to me. Good luck to all with the rest of the school year!

Warmly,

Kristy

I don't meet the qualifications, but I wanted to wish you luck with your survey. Good luck!

Boxcar,

Thank you for wishing me luck! If you know of even one or two ESL teachers that you could send my way, please feel free to do so. It would help immensely!

Kristy

It's an interesting and novel approach. I know nothing about it. My two cents: sounds great for the younger grades: might not work by middle school.
