Does it look bad to apply for several positions (i.e., History, English, Math, Music) I am interested in teaching all and have certifcation in none, though I am currently teaching music, awaiting history test results, taking the math test next month and have a degree that is similar to English (Journalism).

I am just fearful that if a school has 2 or more of these positions and I make it known that I would like to teach all that I do not look specialized enough or that I am just thinking I can waltz into anything without proper training or certification.

Bottom line is I love teaching and simply would like to begin a career so the subject right now is secondary to an actual position.

Any advice would be great. Thanks

You can submit more than one application at a school, but I wouldn't do more than three. That should be the maximum, I would think... I'm not sure on this though. Someone else may be along later with some better insight. Good luck!

At this point, without certification, you might want to put out as many as possible in an "every man for himself" kind of way. Depending on what state you're in, education jobs are sparse and budgets are tight. So making yourself as marketable as possible is a wise move. If other schools contact you for a job once you've accepted one, they will understand the situation given the current educational scenario. It's just good business.
