Assessment Questions? Wazzup?

There have been 3 or 4 recent posts asking the same things: How often should one assess and why? No other details are given.

What's up with that? It's almost June! Shouldn't everyone already have their assessments nearly finished for the year? Or are these final exam questions for students? If that's the case, I don't mind helping, but the questions should be more complete. If that's NOT the case, then what's been going on all year?

Many of them aren't giving any context to go along with the assessment questions ... so I'm wondering if these are education students who are looking for a quick and easy way to get opinion statements for a written assignment.

In general I tend to avoid such questions as I think students need to be responsible for completing their own assignments. In theory, one would assume that they were given one or more reading assignments and are now being asked to reflect upon what they read by formulating an opinion.

I wonder how many of our opinions have been glibly incorporated into an essay or a series of short answer questions and passed off as a student's own original thought? :rolleyes:
