That makes me so angry! Shame on that teacher! In no way is it ever okay to do something like that.
Yes, there are times when a child needs to be removed from a classroom setting. The child may need more extensive accomodations, may be a danger to himself/herself/others, or may not be succeeding in the current enviroment. This decision is one that is made by the professionals and the child's family. It is not to be made by the students in the classroom.

That is despicable! How could someone who is a teacher ever think that treating a student that way is acceptable? That poor child will be affected by this for a long time. The other students will remember it and think that it is okay to treat him differently, and perhaps to treat anyone "different" with less respect. I hope that someone in that school is addressing the many issues with these children.

What makes this worse is the child had problems, when someone shows signs of having a problem you dont help that problem by giving them more.

Wow. Just wow.
I have a student with Aspergers in my classroom and couldn't imagine voting him out of the room! He can be a little difficult some days but I wouldn't dream of doing that.
I know this kid wasn't diagnosed yet but you'd think the teacher would have been aware of the fact that he was being tested and perhaps given some strategies on how to work with him.

Wow, just wow!
That teacher is in the wrong field, and I hope the district lets her know it. I can't even call that a lapse in judgment because the entire episode seems to have taken quite a bit of time. Shame on her!

My goodness, that is terrible. I cannot believe how horrible that child must feel, on top of everything else he is trying to deal with...

I was totally shocked and am struggling to reason this out....do you imagine that this teacher thought involving other class members might actually change the way this student behaves in the future?

I'm also not seeing the reason. Perhaps because I'm so angry on the student's behalf. I guess you could be right though. Maybe it was an attempt to encourage change...
