Site is Faster now.

I've made some changes and now all of The Teacher's Corner should load much faster.

For me it loads approximately twice as fast, some may not notice much, and others may notice speed increases of up to 5 times faster.

Do you notice any change in load time?

I have to say addict the site was very slow for me, reminded me of dial up sometimes (evil grin)

...but now its helluva lot faster...=) I am further away wonder if that makes a difference?

I figure you are slower coming overseas - since the sever is in the U.S. - just longer to travel. BUT the changes I made would/should help users like yourself the most.

All I did was change the way I send my pages from my server to your browser. I increased what is cached by your browser when it is sent. So the next time you visit, you don't have to re-download ALL of the content. It just pulls the content that never changes (like the images in the site design) directly from your browsers cache - this is much faster then resending the images every time you visit a page.

I also am now compressing the content, and allowing your browser to uncompress it - this is pretty much a wash for U.S. users, but for users overseas, they get the content much faster.

So you actually notice a difference? How does it compare to sites that are more local to you (European sites)?

Actually compared with other European sites yours is much faster, though I have to say I got lost in all the technical detail....you geek....in the nicest possible way =)
