I'm a Spanish teacher. We have many new Spanish-speaking only families in our district so I'm designing materials to help my colleagues (teachers) communicate in basic Spanish. I'm looking for input. How does Florida deal with this situtation? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

¡Gracias!

Meg

I have no resources to add, but if you do develop these materials, I would love to hear about them! I have a child in my class whose family is Spanish-speaking only, and I'm not sure the best way to get them involved and collaborate with them. I know only very rudimentary and broken Spanish from college; not enough to converse about their daughter!

Where's the ESL teacher? Get him or her involved. Can staff development courses (for credit) be given in learning how to speak Spanish? Pssoibly the high school foreign language teacher/s could teach it for credit, too, or pay.
