Hello-

I am a pre-service teacher in my third year at university, and I have recently become heavily involved with a Creative Drama program. Basically, we teach, "Reinforce", basic skills for a class of 2-3 graders. However, it seems like all of the activities i'm trying the kids have already done, or they simply aren't interested in.

Our current theme is, "Creating a Community of Learners", and my class is focusing on the role of community in our students lives-how they fit in as individuals, as students, as people.

Any ideas for activities?

Thanks!

Any ideas for activities?

Have students role play:

How to welcome a new student to the class

Conflict resolution

How to deal with a bully

How to share supplies

How to work in a cooperative group setting

How to help others do their work (without cheating by giving answers)

Elementary certainly is not my level...but I will try to throw a few ideas out. I apologize if they are higher level than you can use.
All students love improv. Putting them together with a situation where they go off the cuff.
Viola Spolin has a great book of theatre games, this could benefit you, you can find it at any bookstore, or online.
What about putting together puppet shows? Having the kids make the puppets and putting the show on?
Hope these ideas are helpful in some way.
