Don't you just love the weekends? Today my daughter allowed us to sleep in unitl 9am, my husband loaded up the kids and took them into town with him. I was able to relax and pick up the house. When they came home he had bought me the fire pit table I have wanted but felt too guilty paying for. He is putting it together right now and my daughter just laid down for her nap. This is a great weekend, 85 degrees, and I can't wait to make smores tonight!!! Right now, this is my ideal weekend break from testing and the rest of things at school. All is good.
How is your weekend going?

After work on Friday, I stopped at the Home Depot and purchased a small indoor fountain. The fountain pumps water over a horizontal piece of glass. The water then cascades down a flight of glass "stairs" making a nice burbling creek sound. A light in the bottom of the fountain reflects the patter of dancing water on the ceiling.
I found the sound of running water to be so soothing, that I fell asleep fully clothed on my bed while watching TV at 6 PM.
Today I need to kitten proof my home.
Having lost one of my cats last week as a result of a short but unfortunately deadly illness, I was rather startled when a colleague at work told me about a group of kittens at the county animal control compound.
The local shelter is a "kill shelter" that puts animals down if they aren't adopted. One of the kittens has yellow eyes and black hair, just like Charlie.

My initial reaction was to gruffly thank my co-worker and to say thanks, but no thanks. After all, Charlie wasn't a piece of furniture that I could simply replace. He had a very distinctive outgoing personality.
Still ... after thinking about it for a few days, it occurred to me that I first met Charlie at a kill shelter in Texas. Charlie was a little black kitten at the time and was scheduled to be put down at week's end because nobody wanted him. The shelter manager told me that a surprising number of people are still superstitious about black cats.
This kitten could well face the same fate ... so I'm cleaning up my home just in case I decide to bring a kitten home next week.
Lord only knows what my other three cats will think of this ...

Aw, kittens are so cute.
My weekend is okay. I'm trying to work hard to meet all my deadlines. Of course, this means I'm getting distracted more than normal. Bad website...

Coming home on a Friday is the best feeling and more relaxing than coming home any day. I didn't mind it so much while working in the private sector, but it is different now that I am teaching.
There is nothing more wonderful than coming home on Friday, closing the door, and just sitting there with my own thoughts, quiet, and doing whatever I feel like doing. Since I am single, it is wonderful to not have to answer the door or the phone or leave the house. It is fantastic, and the next day is mine to do whatever I wish.
Now, what I end up doing is baby sitting one night for my sister because my niece and I have the this thing lately. We snuggle, eat ice cream, watch a movie, she reads to me, and we snuggle and go night night. It is the best thing ever!!
Today I went looking for furniture for the new house, and tomorrow is grading a few papers.

Last week I agreed to sub for the teacher that runs the child care program. It was only for one period during my planning period. I was in the room with 13 high school girls and what seemed like 20 or more 4 and 5 year olds. I left there with my ears ringing. It actually was a fun experience but never-the-less, it is nice to be relaxing on the week end.

I have to tell y'all, my best friend, really is the best. It isn't often where you get along with a dude that well and there is no pressure. He has a girlfriend (although I just asked him if she was real because I have yet to meet her), and she is cool with us going out every now and again, and I respect the fact that he has a girlfriend.
But it was so cute yesterday y'all. I am not very good at interior design and sometimes even dressing myself. He is a designer of so many things, web pages, book covers, and whatever else. He came over the help me yesterday, kept me focused, helped me find my style, and now I have direction. That was really hard because I get so overwhelmed. You go looking for stuff, and then you get overwhelmed by all of the things you need, and I end up coming home with nothing.
Yesterday, I still came home with nothing, but I have a style, budget, and a plan. Having that was the best feeling in the world. It was a wonderful sense of accomplishment. Actually, I told my friend about the budget I would allow him to redo my living room and kitchen, and I wish y'all could have seen the look on his face. There was that long pause as if he really thought about taking on the challenge. I may not have to do a thing other than give him money and let him do all of the work. Which is essentially what I wanted because I am not very good at these things.
Anyway, it is always good hanging out with someone you genuinely enjoy, eating breakfast, having coffee, checking out the local stuff, and just all around being productive. It has been a good weekend.

My aunt owns a beach house in Nags Head, NC. I am about 2 1/2 hours from there. I met the ladies of the family there on Friday and we were at the beach all weekend. We all got massages at the house (house call). We were set up on the deck, and could hear the ocean crashing with a light breeze on the deck during our massages.
TALK ABOUT AN AMAZING WEEKEND!
Here's the kicker... everyone else left today to go back north (I am the only one that actually lives in NC), and I have a random day off tomorrow, so I am still here! I am listening to the ocean crash against the shore as I type this. Needless to say, this has been a great weekend, and I was ready for ultimate relaxation after just finishing up with the spring play last week!

Cool! What was the weather like? Was it warm enough to at least have a picnic?

I LOVE Nags Head and Kitty Hawk, that was our yearly beach destination when I was growing up. We would rent a beach house for 2 weeks and relax. I am very jealous right now...especially the part about the massages!

I spent the weekend spring cleaning inside and outside. It sounds like work but I actually enjoyed it. Everything looks nice and smells good too!

I'm coaching my nine year old and five year old's soccer teams, so weekends are a bit hectic. But there's nothing like watching a group of five year olds running around the field chasing a soccer ball!

My 8 year plays soccer. I am happy this season because they have games Tuesday and Thursday...no weekends. I always hated soccer season because it was 10 or so straight weeks of not getting to go anywhere.
Miss Teach, I wish I could get house work finished. I have no excuse except that I am too tired. Allergy season has about done me in.

Saturday it was beautiful, like 85 degrees, Sunday it became overcast with a few showers. They were calling for storms Sunday, but they held off. The storms were then called for this afternoon, so I left earlier than I originall planned, at like 10:30 this morning so to avoid driving through storms. Lucky I did, because I saw on the news some seriously severe weather occuring where I would have to drive home, tornado warnings and all.
All in all, it was a great weekend!

My aunt and uncle actually rent their house out through Kitty Hawk rentals, so you were staying in the exact area that I was in this weekend! I love it there, I am going to try to get back there before the season starts, because then the house is off limits as it is being rented.

Weekend? What's that? I'd love to maintain the carefree spirit of the board here, but let's be honest: My Saturdays usually consist of yardwork and housework, and my Sundays are devoured by social and religious obligations. All in all, I normally have about 2 hours that aren't taken up with responsibility.

One or two hours is still some time to oneself... That time can feel like a tremedous relief at times!
My suggestion is to try and spot-do throughout the week so that chores don't pile up on the weekends.
