My Wife and I have recently decided to share the news that we're pregnant. I know, that I'm not exactly good friends with everyone, but I have had some good conversations on and off this site, so I thought ya'll could use some positive stuff. I guess the biggest news is that we're having twins!

Congratulations!! that's great, when is your wife due? Are you going to take time off, our are you going to luck out again have the kids during summer?

She's due in October. Probably have the kids in September. I don't know about taking off yet. The tribal school doesn't have to follow the family medical leave act, so I'll have to ask.

Congratulations!
Are you ready for this event? You're going to need double supplies of everything from diapers to baby seats and rockers ... :)

Thank you.
...well, not quite. My wife is an intern pastor. We live in a Cracker Jack box of an apartment. we have a Corolla. Yeah, we need a few changes. Fortunately, the church was just given a house to use as a manse. The ladies of the church, despite our first child, want to have a baby shower. So even though my parents wouldn't do this, this small town doesn't have too many births I guess.

Congrats!! Babies are wonderful. I couldn't imagine having twins, but just like all things in parenthood, we seem to rise to the occassion. You are very blessed to have the support of the community. Remember, it takes a village...
I can't wait to hear the names you pick out. Are you telling anyone? We waited until the baby shower for the "big reveal".
Even though I feel my family is now complete with a boy and a girl, I LOVED being pregnant and tell my husband often that I want to be a surrogate mother for those who have not been as blessed with children as we have. He looks at me like I am crazy. My best friend since elementary school was just told that she will probably never be able to have children. If she asked, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Congratulations! I'm so excited for you. I think it is awesome that you are having twins. Are they boy-girl, identicals, and fracturnal?

Oh. Also, you so have to tell us the names you are considering.

Well Holly and I are torn on names. We've had a series of upsets before, so we truly feel blessed to have twins. Every time we tell our names, other people close to us use them, so until they arrive, my lips are sealed. As far as gender, we don't know yet, but we do know that they are identical, so we have to agree on two same-gender names which is no easy task; I like outlandish names, Holly likes normal biblical names... we'll see. I will, however, announce them when the kids show up. :-)

I would probably advise against the rhyming name thing, though. You know, Polly and Dolly or Jim and Tim...

I am more traditional with names. Funny story...son's name is Alexander, always called Alex. In kindergarten, he told the teacher his middel name was Zander, "You know, Alex Zander"

04-22-2008, 02:14 PM
thanks again... well, Holly and I PROBABLY will find out what gender so we can quit fighting over names. I keep trying to convince her that middle names should be Hanz and Franz. I don't think gender should play a choice in the matter either. She's definitely against it! lol.

Well Holly and I are torn on names. We've had a series of upsets before, so we truly feel blessed to have twins...
This reminds me of a joke I once heard.
A pregnant woman was involved in a car accident and was in a coma when doctors delivered her twins. Since the woman was unable to name her children, they asked her (retarded) older brother what names they should put on the birth certificates.
When the woman came out of her coma, her brother was waiting at her bedside with the twins.
"The doctor made me name them," apologized the brother as he handed the infants to their mother.
"Uh-oh," thought the mother. "What did you name the girl?"
"Denise."
The mother was pleasantly surprised. "What a perfectly wonderful name. And what did you name the boy?"
"Denephew."

Cute! unfortunately, that just won't work... In my case it would have to be Danise & Dahudderneise, or conversely nephew. but I'll keep playing with that idea, and see if Holly will say yes to something.

That is funny. If they were boy-girl, you could have done Erin and Aaron...

You know... I DO have a problem with calling people the wrong name. Students, children, my wife. That would REALLY streamline everything and make it easy on me huh? but then there is that Night Court episode where the two twins were in trouble, Phil and Fill. parents were named Phil and Phillis. so you know, I think that would be a mistake.

That's awesome news! Congrats!
This thread has been a joy to read and a great way to start my week-end. I haven't been here in a month because I was moved to fourth grade to prepare the students for the Texas TAKS test in March.
Gratz on the awesome news.
PS The people at this place are great. The administration is out of this world great. They have actually sent snail mail to me on 2 occasions: once a greeting card and once a welcome gift.

Well Holly and I are torn on names...
Well ... given your Charlie Chaplin look, what about calling them Stanley and Oliver ... or Olivia as the case may be? :)

Ok, all... Holly had some cramping last night, and was counseled by here doc to come in... so we drove across the state (roughly 5 min from the ND border) to Sioux Falls... all is fine, we had an ultrasound where they measured the cervix and looked at the insides; everything is normal... if you discount the fact that there are two babies. While Doc was hunting around, we found out that we are expecting BOYS. My mom promptly apologized for wishing me onto myself when I told her; she didn't know that prayer works THAT well. Holly and I were thinking girl names, so now it's back to the ring to slug out what the boy names will be. I'm thinking Darryl and Darryl:
http://www.geocities.com/darilbrothers/images/Larry-DarrylDarryl-1.gif
So it can be "Hi I'm Sarah, this is my brother Darryl and this is my other brother Darryl.

I'm glad everything was okay with the babies. When things like that happen, it can be terrifying.
Have you thought of two names that are part of a whole? Like Al and Fred. When you put them together you get Alfred. Or Pat and Rick.

I like both ideas. (Darryl and Darryl, Al and Fred or Pat and Rick)
I kinda still like the rhyming thing too.
Good luck in the ring and I'm sure you will come to an agreement you will both be happy with.

so, posted here is a 3D pic. Finally got it scanned. being up here in da Great White Nort, I'm kinda thinking Sven and Ole to get into the spirit of things up here.
I'm a bit late, but Congratulations! Ultrasounds today are amazing. I have the fuzzy little one taken of my youngest 30 years ago and everyone marveled at that.
Blessings for all of you and prayers that the pregnancy will be uneventful and as comfortable as it can be for your wife.

Sarah will be two on Juneteenth (19th of June) for history of Juneteenth, go here: (http://www.juneteenth.com/history.htm) She hasn't thrown names into the mix, but she is definitely aware that they will be brothers, and says "the boys" a lot.
it's really cute.
Hooray! I LOVE twins!! I've heard sweet potatoes increase the likelyhood, and I happen to also love YAMS! I'm going to be orange while we're trying ton conceive. I'm so very excited for you.
As an obsessed Harry Potter fan, I'm going to have to recommend George and Fred as names for your little babies. I've convinced my husband that if we have one boy, his name will be Teddy (Theodore). It helps that it is his grandfather's name, but it's also Lupin and Tonks' son. I would love to name my daughter Hermione, but it's a bit stand-out-ish now, and Erik already has his heart set on Elsa. Names are so fun! It's a shame we only get two per kid, and we're only having one kid (unless those sweet potatoes kick in!).
I'm going to be dancing for you all day. This really made me happy to hear.

Well, anyone who has twins will tell you you're nuts for wanting them. Holly has had such serious health issues! I recommend having singltons if you have any say in the matter. as far as Harry Potter, Holly hates the name George, so that is out.
We had a cat named Hermione who died a little over a year ago, but she was named for Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, so I suppose that doesn't count.
My daughter has 3 names, a first and two middle names. Makes for a long name but she generally only uses the first name and first middle name.
As far as names, I have a friend who has a first name for herself, but then is named for her two grandmothers and her great grandmothers, plus she is catholic so she took a Christian name at Confirmation. Her full name is 9 names long... she shortens down to three for us... but I would hate to sign legal papers! Oof-Dah!

Has anyone seen this site for the popularity of names? It is interesting. http://www.babynamewizard.com/voyager
Have you seen the episode on The Dick Van Dyke Show where Rob and Laura need to pick out the middle name for their son, and family members are after them to pick someone different in the family? There are seven names, which make up his middle name of Rosebud.

OK, I know I haven't been keeping you all as informed as I said I would, but Holly has been on bed rest for the past month. Holly is still due in October, but they will probably take the kiddos some time this next week. I believe it is FINALLY safe to share our names: Gideon Mateo and Micah Thomas. so, there you go.
I wish your family all the best. You are in my prayers.
Congrats!!!

I hope your wife and the babies are doing well. Don't be surprised if they are premies and have to stay awhile in the hospital. My wife was a premie and grew beautifully under the care of nurses and doctors and made it home in a few weeks. Enjoy your time now, because the best is yet to come. Congrats. Wishing you all well. PS Please let us know when the babies are born.

I am pleased to announce the birth or Gideon Matteo, and Micah Thomas Smith. They were born at 6:51 yesterday evening by C-section. Gideon weighed 3lbs 14oz, Micah was 3lbs 10oz. Gideon is on the left, Micah is on the right. I was pushing for Fred and George right up to the end... oh well.
