Well, I don't know if this will help, but I'll have a go.

You can create interactive maps and games using PowerPoint. i've seen it done with Jepordy with good results.

There are also software programs that can be downloaded free of charge. These are study programs with flash cards, matching cards, ect. that you fill in to study from. You might try using one of these.

cheers boxcar, but i need classroom activities as 1, computers arent always available & 2, sometimes the schools arent happy if you spend your lessons in the pc room. Having said that i find it very hard to do an interactive lesson on NZ without doing some internet research first as generally the kids dont know a thing about the country

How old are the students, and what is the focus of your lesson? Is it like a travelogue? We can be more helpful if we know what your goals are. :)

You could introduce the lesson by showing them pictures of NZ, products, etc. Ask if they know where the pictures were taken, where the products are made. Then talk about it. At the end they could draw a pictures of NZ, write a newspaper article about it, interview each other. Are these the kinds of things you were looking for?
