This second year of teaching was SO much better than last year. At this time last year I had the number of days written down on the calendar. This year, I just realized that there are only 9 weeks left until the break. I've 5 more weeks to go through with my *interesting* student teacher & then 4 weeks of wrap up! I think I might even be ready to teach summer school. Last year I was trying to decide whether to quit or not! OMG, YEEY! :D

I must share this with my first year teachers. :) This is a testament to what I have been telling them and it's coming from a second year teacher!
I am so glad that you took a chance. You would not have known that things would be easier the second year had you quit. Now you're even thinking about teaching summer school? I applaud you. ;)
End this year on a high note and know that next year will be easier than this year. I wish you a successful career. Have fun - teaching is a fabulous career, even when things go wrong and pressure is placed upon us.

This is my second year and I feel its been worst than last year, I still don't know if I'm quitting or staying but I'm considering all options.
If I make it through a couple of years more I'm going to write a book, I'll throw everyone in the middle, even the teachers union will get a taste of it.

I have been teaching for over twenty years, and I still get excited when I realize the end of the year is close! I love my job; I even like my middle school students! But I still look forward to summer break. Each year there are moments that I think about checking to see how long until retirement, but those moments are fleeting. I really am not ready to retire. As long as I enjoy my job, I am staying!

Awwwww, I feel bad for you and know exactly how you feel. After my second year, I was ready to up and quit. A few factors out of my control kept me from moving, so I ended up taking a year off and substituting at one school for an entire year. It felt wonderful to go to school and actually teach and then come home with no other obligations. That put things into great perspective.
This is my fourth year (third if you don't count that year of substitute teaching), and what they say about the first three to five years is true. It really does come together. Changing counties and districts really helped. I didn't think it was fair to quit the field I had put so much energy into before I at least checked things out in a different county. They all differ.
I am so glad I did as I am shocked at my own personal enjoyment and have begun making plans to get better every single year.
Things really can turn around for people.

I know, I can't believe we only have a few weeks left!! I can't believe that I have **almost**survived my 1st year of teaching! WOW!! I am looking forward to my 2nd year (although this year has been rough) and know ways that I am going to change. First thing I am going to start off being a dictator. What I say goes. I started off this year (in 6th grade) telling the kids that I won't to hear their opinion and we will take a vote, yada, yada, yada. That backfired on me quickly. The kids got to where they would say that is not fair and that I needed to hear thier opinion. Oh, well, I now know what to do. Anyway---can't wait until Summer Vacation!!! :-D
