I work with 2 11 year old boys with low functioning autism. We are looking for some very age appropriate teaching tools...not developmental level tools. Teaching 11 and 12 year olds using preschool resources just isn't appropriate, nursery rhymes, etc. Are there any resources out there which are more appropriate for these older children who function at a preschool level? Singing Itsy Bitsy Spider and Skinnamarink just seems not right anymore.

What are you looking at teaching? I would suggest a more community based unit. Have the students read menus, bus schedules, etc. Then go to a restaurant or take a bus somewhere. Work on making change by running a school store.
