Hello Everyone
My name is Dolly (27 yrs) and I am finishing my Ba in a dual magor in Elementary Edu in MA... I am a single parent of one and it has been a long road to an end that's really a beginning. While in college I have struggled without a support system. You know that saying "when it rains it pours", yeah, well that would describe my life for the past 8 years or so. If I had to choose to do it all over again I probally would because it has made me the person I am today, dedicated, motivated, and hard working.. I hung in there and now I can see the sun peaking through the clouds. I am here on this site looking for a network of people that I can support and they can return the favor. I will be a new teacher ready to be employed by probally one of the most diverse systems in the state of MA. Please feel free to leave me a message anytime..
Sincerely,
Dolly

P.S... Hope to hear from you all;)

Welcome, Dolly -

I commend you for persevering and achieving your goal. With your eight years of struggle, I do believe that you will be empathetic to many of our students. You know that you need work ethics and that you must try in order to achieve. I'm sure that in many ways that you will be able to convey this to your students. As the saying goes, "Been there, done that!"

Good luck to you and the starting of a brand new career. Have fun and enjoy.

Welcome Dolly!

I just discovered teachers corner as well, and it has been the best form of support EVER. There has been more support from the message boards here than I have ever had as I went through teaching and certification. You came to the right place.

I am in my fourth year and in the middle of the 3-5 year "feet wetting" thing. Whatever help or advice I can give, I will be more than happy to share.

Good luck to you and all of your endeavors!!

Good luck! Teaching is so much fun if you've got a system designed to handle all the little things that crop up in the course of a day. Make those connections with the other teachers in your school and take time every day for yourself!
