Just look at your students and smile for the sake of smiling? You just look up and see that they are working diligently, messing with no one, and seem at peace? It feels as though it is class wide focus.
Do you ever just look up and see that one kids who never works actually working? That one child that is never prepared and finally comes to class prepared? That student that gave you nothing but grief finally relaxed a little and actually took part in the class discussion or decided to work with you and not against you?
Do you ever just listen to the sounds of your classroom? What are your favorite sounds? It is interesting to hear the number of conversations going on, and the kinds of conversations, and then I just smile when they have stumbled on a test question in conversation.
Do you ever just listen to an argument because at least kids are arguing over the content? They literally had to have some working knowledge or have remembered something to even have that argument. My kids were arguing over the correct date for D-Day, and then you watch them flip through books because someone just has to be correct.
Do you ever just notice that when are kids aren't being pains in the butts, they are just cute just doing what they are supposed to do?
Today was a precious day, and I actually shared candy with the kids instead of eating it in front of them.:D
