Does anyone have any favorite Civil War novels that are at 4th-5th grade level? I read about 30 of them a few years ago, and decided to buy a class set of Across the Lines. Unfortunately, the reading level of my students has declined in the last couple of years, and that book is much too difficult for my current class. I really want a novel that delves into the complexities of the different viewpoints of people from the Union and Confederacy, but can't seem to find one that doesn't have too high of a reading level. Any ideas?
Thanks!
