And it's interesting, because it was all an accident. I don't even recall how I stumbled onto Teacher Corner, but it's a blessing that I did.

I frequent two other forums. One of them does not require registration and so there are often unpleasant exchanges there (flaming) by those who hide behind their anonymity; I don't go there much anymore.

Another does require registration and there are several really special people there, but the "traffic" there is so very limited. the exchanges we have are good ones, but they are so infrequent.

Here, I've met some really good people. We don't all agree on everything (who does?) but, except for a few isolated cases, we disagree in a congenial way and offer a different perspective, which I find enlightening. This makes a good sounding board too for when I just want to come here and vent a bit. This site feels "safer" and I appreciate the congenial exchanges here!:D

I am really glad I found this place too!! It really is a much needed outlet for me (positive and negative). I didn't realize how much until I joined. This place has been noting but a blessing, and the folks here really are the best.:D

Hello,

I'm a newbie and am also a refugee from another site. I used to frequent a board for parents of troubled children as my DH and I went through a few rough years with our oldest child.

Thankfully, she has matured and is on the right track. I grew tired of the other site because of its constant teacher bashing.

These people has very troubled children who were difficult to handle. They couldn't handle their own children but expected a teacher to be able to teach their children in a classroom where there were also 25 other children. Of course, they would cite IDEA and other special ed laws and blame the schools for all of their child's problems.

I just got to the point where I couldn't stand the constant blame game and teacher bashing so I searched for a site where there would be people like me.

And here I am. I am a high school math teacher in GA and this is my 27th year in the classroom.

I'm looking forward to getting to know y'all.

~Kathy

I love it too. There are so many ways to appreciate it. Sometimes entertaining, educational, inspiring, and so far I have found most everyone to be supportive. I know my support system here, but it's also nice to get support from people who don't know you.

Same here! I did not want to do something like this at first and honestly did it as part of one of my masters classes. I am so glad I did - I'm hooked and I appreciate all who share ideas.

I'm very new to the site too and am thoroughly enjoying my time here. It is great to see everyone come together from all over the world! This is one of my first experiences on a web-based forum. I am still exploring the site as well as my personal interaction with it. Thanks for the great first impression.
