The following blurb is from ASCD's NewsBrief:

Web site charges for filing free student-aid application
As high school seniors and their families begin to
complete the federal government's Free Application for
Federal Student Aid, they should be aware that typing .com
instead of .gov into their Web browser could cost them as
much as $79.99: A Web site unaffiliated with the U.S.
Department of Education says it charges applicants for
providing support in filing the forms, but a school
counselor says some applicants are unaware they could file
the same forms for free. The Sacramento Bee (Calif.) (free
registration) (1/21)

Thanks for that info. It's terrible that so many companies try to mislead people to make a buck.:(

Just read the article, I do hope that the company takes the FAFSA out of its advertisement. It is misleading. However, can't complain about a business trying to make money! .com and .gov mean different things, so students and their parents must be careful.
