Hi everyone,
I live in Quebec, Canada so I know that the education system differs greatly of that in the US and even Canada for that matter. High School in Quebec only goes to Grade 11 then we have 2 years of "college", then University. I have just completed my first semester of College and I find my schedule more flexible and would like to gain some experience in teaching and working in a school/classroom environment. I am not sure about the laws in which our School Boards possess about supply teaching, whether one must obtain a valid license or some formal training. Is it heard of that someone can supply teach without any training or degree? I would appreciate your feedback for my question, to give me a deeper insight to this matter.
Thank You,
Kohl :)

I didn't know that Canada only has high school through the 11th grade.

I think your best bet is to direct your question to the Ministère de l'Éducation.

This is only true for Quebec, the rest of Canada goes to Grade 11. I am sorry for not being clear with my statement.

Thank you for your response.

I think that most places do require some kind of degree to substitute teach. However some districts only require a certain number of college hours. So it is always good to ask.
I know in the US, you can substitute for a teaching assistant with only a high school diploma. That might be a way into the school district.

In my school district, we have many programs to encourage people to become teachers. One such program is that of Teacher Apprentice. Here is where the candidate works in a classroom with an experienced teacher while participating in an education program at select colleges and universities. I think that the candidate has to have some college credits. The apprentice has mandatory school and district supports - professional development, induction and a mentor.
