Hi all. I'm a student in college and I’m writing a paper and i would much appreciate your input. The topic of the paper is, do children that attend daycare develop better than children that stay at home with their parents when they are pre-k age (like develop better socially, cognitively, ect.). What’s every ones opinions?
Thanks a lot!!!

I appreciate your honesty in saying that you are a college student looking for opinions for your paper. Although I certainly have opinions regarding this topic, I think students need to come up with their own opinions.
Your professor is not interested in my opinion. He is interested in yours.

Thanks for the links. My prof. actually wanted me to interview kindergartener and first grade teachers to compare the children’s performances. I interviewed one teacher, but i also wanted the input of other teachers because I only had time to interview with one teacher.

I believe that preschool is a great opportunity for many students. Depending on the preschool program, depends on how prepared the students are for kindergarten. It also depends on the family. I would recommend preschool for many low income families. Not only are the children prepared for the separation from mom and dad, but they have developed many social and academic skills. Again depends on the preschool. However, for families that can afford to be home with their children and have other children to socialize with, not attending preschool can be okay. These children are able to have "play dates" to form socialization and often have parents to read to them and play games with them. The more involved the parents, the better. So, preschool is great but is not for all.

Ah ... that would have been helpful to know.
I'm sorry if I seemed abrupt.
As much as I would like to help you, I have never taught K-1. I have taught grades 3, 4, and 5. I am now a high school culinary arts teacher.
