Hi everyone -

I am wondering if any of you have used Web 2.0 technologies to augment your lessons. I'm not looking for technology-based lessons, but rather examples of using technology to enrich a lesson. For example, have you created a class blog where students can post assignments and others can peer review them there? Or have you had students upload pictures or artwork to a site like Flickr, so not only can your class use the images but anyone can? I'm trying to find ways to incorporate these technologies that students are using outside of the classroom into lessons.

All ideas welcome!

Look at www.TheMathWebSite.com if you want to fully use the Internet and computer technology in your classroom, to prepare your class lessons, to provide quizzes and tests (complete with solutions) and to provide enrichment materials.
It also has a sister site at www.HighSchoolMath.Blogspot.com.

What is Web 2.0 ?

I have used a student blog in my classroom before. I set it up to be used at school in the computer lab. I also relate it to what we are using in the classroom. The students loved it. We have done some simple movies on line but not too many pictures.
I enjoy using webquests with my students. They allow the students to use different computer skills and work on team building/cooperative learning.
Not sure what Web 2.0 is? I have used sites where you can assign computer work to the students and as they complete them, they get to harder activities.

Thanks for the ideas!

Web 2.0 is defined as "a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services — such as social-networking sites, blogs, social bookmarking sites, wikis — which aim to facilitate creativity, collaboration, and sharing between users."

So it's more about shared authority and collaboration than simply imparting information.
