First of all, I would like to thank for the suggestions on the activities for Literacy Days.

We finally did it!

My partner and I chose "Cultural Literacy is the Oxygen of Social Intercourse" to be our topic.

Each local is given a country's name to be the literary theme. All classes had to be decorated as their respective countries. Yet, the decoration should portray the topic. The classes were also obliged to prepare one performance each. We also held a pageant to find 'Mr. and Ms. Literacy' (ha ha, we couldn't find better names at that time).

Surprisingly, it worked! All students read and wrote during the week. Yet, the activity was a lot of FUN since they don't realize how much reading that they actually did for the event.

When smiles were in everyone's face, it was enough :)

That is awesome! Congratulations. I love when students read and write without knowing that they are doing it.
What activities did you plan? It would be nice to see so that we could use some of them within our own schools.

I'm so glad it worked for you! :)

Getting children to read is wonderful in itself, but you were able to teach diversity as well.

Good job!

And, yes, it is fun when the students learn things without realizing it. That is how school shuould be. Learning needs to be enjoyable.
