As part of her Master's degree work my daughter needs to find several sources that she can site on the pros and cons of bringing computers and/or the internet into the classroom
If anyone knows of any links for this I'd be grateful.
Thanks.

When you say sources, are you talking about published researched or are you simply looking for articles?
Does this have to be recent?
Computers first began making their appearance into the classroom during the mid to late 70's. Articles about the pros and cons of having computers in the classroom began appearing during this time.
One of the interesting studies done in the late 70's or early 80's was to compare the academic progress of two groups. One group was taught using a traditional lecture format and the other group was taught via CAI (computer assisted instruction).
Students were then tested to see which group did better.
Of course ... it's been 30 or 35 years since this study was made, so the information would be dated.

Here's a website for advantages:

Here's a website/article that looks at pros and cons:

I would try Eric-its a great database to find articles. Also try teacher magazines published by American Educator, National Council of Teachers of Science, etc.

I've used www.findarticles.com and Google Scholar to look for research. FindArticles brings up all the free ones. It isn't the greatest site for scholarly research, but you can sometimes find stuff on it. Google Scholar is great, but most of the articles you have to buy to read.

Thank you all so much for all the great links and information. I have passed these along to my daughter to see if there is something that she can use. She was thrilled when I told her I had found a teacher forum that is actually active. She told me she has tried posting on message boards before but then had the post just sit there.

Yes, she should become a member. We'd love to have her!
I had to look to find an active teacher forum, too. I did try one other one, but I wan't impressed.
Good luck to her with her research.

TeachersMom is my Mom....thank you all for the help! It has been difficult finding a board that is actually used. Apparently I found you over a year ago but then lost the link. I'm glad Mom found you again!
My mom actually oversimplified the problem I'm having. The course I'm working on involves Internet Inquiry, Internet Workshop, Internet Project, and Webquest. I'm supposed to choose one and look for articles showing at least 2 different viewpoints about it. I've checked a couple of the sites mentioned above and I'll check out the others. If you have any other insight I'd love to hear it!
Thanks again! I'll try to check out this board more often now that I know it's thriving...:D

CAI? We don't use CAI in my department. Culinary arts is primarily a hands-on subject.
When I was an elementary teacher, I liked using computer assisted instruction for drill and practice. CAI learning centers were very useful for keeping kids focused and helping them learn their addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts.
