Does anyone have any K center ideas for Science? My state benchmark talks about patterns in nature, sequencing.
Thanks!

Have the children make colleges out of real or artifical flowers. Point out how all flowers have leaves and petals even if they look different. This is a pattern. Repeat the concept with bugs, trees, seeds, ect.
Have the children plant seeds and watch them grow. This is the sequence of life in plants.
Have the children do an experiment freezing, melting, and evaportating ice. This is the water cycle. Discuss how the water from the ice will come back as rain. Recap the activity when it does rain.
These are more activites then things you would put in the Centers for independent exploration, but maybe they will give you some ideas.

You could also have the students make patterns using stamps or blocks or some other fun material. Our you could have the students sequence pictures of a plant growing, life or moving from one place to another.

I like the idea of sequenceng pictures of things growing. I think I'll use that myself. It made me think of flip books. I wonder if you could make or buy those...

You could also use season changes as patterns in nature. You get even get pictures of a tree changing with the seasons and use it as a sequencing activity in the science or literacy center.
