I'm a new hire. I have some great ideas but am also nervouse to be teaching computer to the entire school. It is a private Christian school with only 120 students.
I'm not sure how to start or how slow to go? Anyone done this before??
Suggestions? Help?
Thanks
Amy

It's my first year and I will be doing multimedia... in a way, it's the same... technology... i'm going to start the year off with vocabulary and having the kids get familiar with everything... I'll be interested to see the suggestions within this thread... sorry I'm not of much help!

I teach 650 students and have alot of web-based programs I use. I would help you if asked. Just email me at
Ericd2day@yahoo.com. I have done this for 7 years now and there is so much good stuff on the WWW.

I'd asses how well they typed. If they need instructions in that, start with a lesson on Word and typing.
I'd recommend letting them do work for the majority of the period, but I'd also have some fun, educational games they can play for the rest of the time. Talk to their other teachers and see how you can tie in what their studying.

I forgot to add this: I'd also hit on Internet safety and how to do good research.
