I am an undergrad student doing research for a paper.

From experience, I was wondering if the increase use of technology improves student achievement?

thanks for you time.

I think that use of technology can certainly help - but only if it's use well and combined with overall good teaching practises. I've found that student are more engaged when they're using a computer or interactive whiteboard, which means they pay more attention and consequently learn more. I also find that it's easier to find information and audio/video/interactive activities that may help kids to make connections between what they're learning and the real world.

If teachers have bad teaching practises, and don't teach their KIDS as opposed to the curriculum, then you can have all the technology in the world and it won't help. There's no silver bullet.

I agree with dolmansaxlil. Technology has helped some students acheive more.

I believe technology does help to increase students' achievements in a way that it helps them relate the lesson with the real world.
How much it increse their achievements depends on many factors; can be the teachers-as stated by dolmansaxlil, or the students themselves.

For sure, technology supports teachers and students' creativity. It eases my tasks in giving the lesson.

Just an opinion.

I think that any good teacher worth his or her "salt" would learn what they need to learn about their students' cultures/interests, etc., to reach them in the most interesting and engaging way as possible. Nowadays, we don't have a choice as educators.....our students' milieu includes technology and if we hope to keep up and stay relevant, we need to get on board. Thus, I feel that yes, it has the potential to improve achievement on a number of levels and within any subject area, because it is now part of a language we need to use.
