Do you have computers in your classroom?
How many?
Mac or PC or something else? (what else is there?)
Do the students use them?
Do the teachers use them?
How do you like them? (the puters, not the students!);)

4 computers
PC
1 printer
used by teacher and students:)
Each child has their own "computer day" every week-- to compose, work on projects, do webquests, research, etc.

3 student PCs, 1 teacher PC

They are necessary tools for learning, so I'd say I like them.

We have 9 computers. All are PC notebooks. I like them. The Teachers are able to use them also.

I have 4 macs for students use. That is really frustrating to me- they are practically worthless. I have them locked up in a cabinet. It's just not practical to have them out for 27 kids. I've tried stations- but it just doesn't seem to work. VERY FRUSTRATING!

I have 2 computers (PC) in my room that the students use. I also use one of them before/after school and it's connected to my Smartboard so I obviously use it for that. We have a computer lab as well, with about 30 computers.

If I require an assignment to be done on computer, we use our lab time for that. If it's just something where the kids may WANT to use the computer, I put two kids on the computer, and then anyone else who wants one starts a list on the board and they manage it themselves. It works well (though I'd certainly like more!)

:D I am a technology teacher! I have a room full of brand new Dell PC's! I have 28 for the students and I have two for me - 1 laptop that I use with my projector and one desktop!

We are a very progressive school! Every teacher has a computer for themselves and is getting a laptop with a projector this year. Some of the teachers even have document cameras to use. We have a total of 5 computer labs - 2 that teachers take their kids to, one keyboarding class, one tech lab, and mine where I do integration doing various projects ranging from Microsoft Word, PowerPoint to podcasting! I have web cams and headphones with microphones for every computer this year and look forward to doing some great things! I also have one black and white laser printer, one color laser printer and one ink jet photo printer.

Hi,

We are a new high school (currently only have year 7 and 8) - next year we will have year 9 and keep growing until year 12.

We are a 1-1 laptop program school. All teachers and students have a Mac Notebook (teachers have the Pro version). There are 3 PCs in the staffroom, but not really required.

We use laptops instead of text books We have large open plan classrooms and use the screens to show videos, presentations - for kids to present work etc etc

All laptops are updated with software often and connected to printers.

I'm a technology teacher too!
I've got a lab with 22 student PC's, and 2 for teacher use. One is connected to the projector. Students are writing their own resumes, doing website design and we're even doing a little video editing!
In my science class I have 6 pc's which the students use for writing, internet research and virtual science labs. In my 8th grade physical science class, the kids design roller coasters with Roller Coaster Tycoon. Every teacher has their own computer and each class has 4 to 6 pc's.

There are so many cool things you can do with computers and teaching. I wish every school was able to have computers in the classroom. The high school in my area only has one lab to share. A teacher has to book it months in advance to get a day.

We have 2 stationary PC labs, 2 mobile PC labs, and a Mac lab. The Mac lab is mainly for the photography classes, although anyone can use the Macs when classes aren't in session. Generally the mobile labs are used by the A.P. Physics and Statistics classes. The labs are open to anyone to use and teachers can reserve one of the stationary or mobile labs for a class period. There is always at least one lab open for anyone to use. We also have a few computers in the library (PC and Mac) and some computers scattered around the building (in classrooms.)

When I was in the classroom, I had a desktop PC and a desktop Mac. I let my students use the Mac for wordprocessing, CAI activities and games.

Most of our classrooms have a Mac or PC desktop or laptop. All of our schools have at least one computer lab. These are for student use even though teachers can use them, also.

About three or four years ago, beginning with primary classrooms, my school district started putting Smartboards into classrooms. I don't know the target date for each classroom in the district to have a Smartboard.

A lot of technology has come into the schools because of teacher teams attending technology professional development sessions.

My school district has one high school that is totally paperless, which includes online textbooks.

Online textbooks are so awesome. I wish more schools had them.

Can you imagine how much cheaper college textbooks would be? How much less high school and primary students would have to pay for rentals?

We're an all PC school. Most are Dell or IBM. I have two desktops. One is on my desk and runs my SmartBoard and related equipment. The other is my teacher workstation which is where I have my email and grading program. The kids use them occassionally, but not regularly.

I have 30 Dell laptops that the kids use. I teach English, so we do lots of writing.

We also have three computer labs, and the library has some computers as well. Each teacher has at least one computer, with plenty having four.

A good portion of my day is computerized.

Hi there, -I'm a tech guy/teacher for a small school in CT, we have about 5 Macbooks in the entire school. If I had to guess at how many pc's we have (desktop+laptop) I'd have to say in the 200-250 range.

To the people that are tech teachers, please lets start a thread where we can compare notes, I'm really interested in what others are teaching...
