Well we are out of school today for a snow day. However, our district does not build any bad weather days into our calander so this will be tagged on in June.
I would almost rather go now that add days.

Send some trucks. You can have all you can take from Colorado. I am sick of it.

Kids had a snow day here too, though the snow was almost non-existent! We have makeup days built in for hurricanes/ice storms, fortunately. They jumped the gun closing schools today, but 2 years ago a similar sounding scenario was underestimated and kids/teachers ended up spending the night at school because the buses couldn't get through (roads became parking lots, the ice was really bad).

Addict, I'll take some of that snow!

I would not want to spend the night with my class
Well we are out again today. We had a lot of sickies before this so maybe this will buy some time for everyone to get well.

Where I come from, which is North of Quebec, we have 3 extra school days in the calendar for cold days or for snow days. In my schoolboard, the schools are rarely closed (once in my 15 years of teaching) and when it's too cold they cancel buses but we are open.

I wish they would build days in. It would be cool to get out "early" if not needed.

They build in 4 days for snow into our calendar, and if we do not use any, we get only 1-2 back added onto the Memorial Day weekend. If we use one (and this is where we do not know what they are thinking!), they take that extra day away at Memorial Day. If we use all of our days, then they start chipping away at spring break in March or April. Today, the 14the 14th, is our first snow day due to the bad ice (NW New Jersey).

Just be grateful if you don't teach in the Seattle area. They have four or five snow days this year that will be added on in June.

Our district builds in extra days also. They are predominantly located right around Easter vacation. So, that weekend gets cut short IF we have too many storm days... unless, of course, the governor "forgives" a day or two. We don't have to "makeup" those days.

I'm surprised they don't build a snow day in. We had them in below you in Texas. The only snow day we got here in Wyoming happened the day after we got out for Christmas break....but I'm sure I won't regret it come June.

I notice that you are in central AR. That is where I live also. We only got one day off for snow and of course it will be added on to June. I remember when we had 2-3 built in snow days. That was back in the "dark ages" though. We also had a deer hunting day. Oh, the good 'ol days!:)

Hey we had what seems like too much snow back home. We had three build in bad weather days and we used two of them.
