Holiday Ideas

I have serveral holiday ideas. One is cut out light bulb shapes out of construction paper. My kids love seeing how many lights they can string on one strand. The clincher is that they must be synonyms to the word on the shape of the plug in.

I am not a mother, only a teacher. I teach high school students and have no idea of holiday activities, can you help me ?:D

I used to work in an Art Gallery and often I'd see children traipse around, utterly bored, behind their parents. I could see them deciding that they'd never visit a gallery when they were grown up as if a subject bores you it often alienates you in the process. Children need an activity in galleries. One I found very useful was to ask the children to "do a little job for me" as they toured the collection. "Please will you count how many horses there are in the pictures for me?" I'd then ask them to record their findings in the visitors' book and, of course, thank them for helping me.
