Hi I am new here and I think I will like this forum. It's nice to talk to different teachers about activities for teachers and students across our nation. There seems to be a lot of activities for the students so I decided to come up with a few on my own for the teachers. I am sure secret pals is nothing new for some of you, but I decided to ask the teachers for a baby picture of themselves and I hung them up outside of our office so the students can see. The names are hidden so the students have to guess. I have left the pictures up for about a week and will probably wait another week before I reveal the names. The students love this. It's nice to show them that yes we are human and were once babies ourselves!! :D

What a fun idea!!! We've done a version of this w/ staff. And, that was fun. I'm sure the kids would think it was a hoot! Thanks for sharing!!!

Hmmmm ... I was never "a baby."

I am an ancient primordial being who has existed as I currently appear for an untold age. I was not born. I simply came into existence wearing a white chef's coat and carrying a spatula.

Magister Mundi sum!.

I am the Master of my Universe (at least within the limits of the culinary arts department). :)

That is so cute!! I homeschool and the kids just love to see pictures of us as kids..especially when we were teenagers(me and daddy met in high school). It just blows there minds that there was a time BEFORE mom and dad were together :) Since my husband and I are the same age, we will tell them about toys, tv shows, etc that were on when we were kids and I don't think the kids realize that just because we had the same shows and toys that we actually lived in different states and didn't even know each other! It's funny to see how there minds work and remember that I was the same way when I was there age. I still remember watching old reruns of the dick van dyke show and andy griffith and asking my mom what the colors actually were (I thought that the shows were black and white because they were old, not because that's the way it all used to be..lol) :o

We've done a version of this at my school. I enjoyed it as much as the students.

Great idea. Thanks for the reminder. Gotta to remember to mention this to the staffs at some of the schools that I visit. It would be a fun bulletin board for you to do if it is your turn to do one of the bulletin boards in the hall. :)

Right now I have a bulletine board for new years. I have collected baby pictures of my 3rd grade students and they are trying to guess who is who :)

Our teachers have also made a bulletin board with lists of other jobs they have had. Each teacher makes their list to post, and then students can guess which teacher goes with each list. The kids are sometimes very surprised about all of the other things we have done!

I like this idea. Reminds me of the articles about entertainment personalities - What did the stars do before becoming famous?

Do you have the teachers' pictures randomly posted with the lists?

We don't post the pictures, but our school is so small that the students all know all of the teachers. Maybe we could add pictures of teachers when they were in high school or college...I'm sure the students would be amused by some our 1980s or 1970s styles!

I'm sure the kids love this. We had done something similar in the past and I recently came across the pictures I provided. They were sitting on my desk today when one of the kids asked who they were of. When I told them to guess they just laughed and began showing everyone else in the room. Needless to say, it took a while to regain them because they all had to see.

That is a cute idea. I've seen it used in the classroom setting too. The students bring in baby pictures and then the class has to try and guess who is who.
