My principal told me I was moving from 4th to 6th grade next year and I am so worried. They are taller than me and have more attitude. Any advice on classroom management or specifically how to handle the "I'm all that and I don't have to listen to you" attitude? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually I have been teaching English for the six graders for three years. The first year is really a nightmare, just as you said, they are really not that easy to handle. Their rebellious attitude isn't easy to take control and teacher-student relationship easy to get intense. After all, they are approaching the adolescence, and that's just they way to show their difference from the childhood. Be patient with them, and don't get into despair too soon! If you can find a way to keep peace with them, they are not that hard to get along with.
Wish you luck!

Well, I have never taught 6th grade, but here are some resources that may be helpful. They are from Scholastic and I have enjoyed the ones focused on 4th grade.

Have a wonderful year!
