Hi, all. I'm new here and would like your opinion on the reading program I chose to use with my daughter this school year.

I subscribed to Readingatoz.com. I have a full subscription, which means I can access all their lesson plans.

Has anyone used this program?

Do you homeschool or are you just supplementing over the summer? I have never used it but have looked at the site often when I'm on an idea hunt.

I have used readingatoz for several years. I like it a lot. It was a great way for our district to get leveled books into the hands of our students. I have found that especially the nonfiction seem to be at a higher level than the level indicates. Keep that in mind when you're picking books to use.
It's nice to have a teacher's guide for each book if you're just beginning with guided reading. It does have lots and lots of resources to choose from which is nice. They are also always adding more each month.

Yes, we have used A to Z but at some schools the administrators don't want to pay for it every year.

Some schools have also bought Star Gazer's Guided Reading Kit to have just a one time charge.

It's different because it has lesson plans and coloring sheets included.

It's basically a very good program and you only buy it once. It has everything a school needs, especially for a take-home reading program.

I'm sure there are others but this is the one we are using for our reading program.

Yes, I have used readingatoz. I'm a first grade teacher, and it was a way to get more leveled books into the hands of my students. However, the school doesn't like to pay for this so it ends up being my money again. Excellent resource for the younger readers.

I am always interested in new links. Especially when it comes to reading. I am going to have to explore that link. What is the subscription cost per year?

I believe that the subscription cost is around $80 a year. However, share the subscription with a couple of teachers. Either share the password and split the $80 or have the school purchase the site for you. It is well worth the cost to resubscribe each year.

Reading a to z does have many leveled readers for you to print, which is nice i you don't have lots of reading material. It also has a lot of curriculum based reading materials and worksheets. I find almost entire units on this site.
Another great site to explore is edhelper. This has a lot of the same materials.

Try Raz-Reading. There is a small cost but the kids love the site. If you have money get Compass Learning.
