I am doing a research paper for my masters in teaching english class about year-round schools and the effectivness of them. If any of you teach in them or have opinions on them I would really appreciate your advice/statistics or information. I am writing FOR year-rounds schools so positive information would be best.

I've taught at schools with the modified year-round calendar (two weeks of fall break, two of winter, two of spring, and eight of summer, with a four-week summer intersession). If that fits within your parameters, I'd love to give you my opinions. Just let me know if that qualifies as "year-round" in your book.

Yes, That does fit in the category. I would just like your opinion on how the studnets academic performance improves in year round schools. Thanks so much!

I am doing a research paper 10-15 pages about year-round school. History/background, how they improve student performance, overcrowding issues, counter arguements and conclusion.

Hey, I am doing a research paper on YRS too. I am trying to find actual statistics, which is so difficult! I am also FOR YRS, I have found lots of good information. Let me recommend you this book, it's by Ilham Nasser and Shelly Haser, it's called Year-Round Education. It's 3 case studies done in 3 elementary schools in Fairfax, VA. Also I bet you have looked at www.nayre.org , but they have helped me out a lot. Even by calling and talking to whoever, really helps.
So if you have any statistics, or graphs, let me know :)
Good luck,
Krista

Hey sorry I haven't gotten back to you til now. The book I had to get an InterLibraryLoan. So I guess that's not a choice for you anymore.
I did find a good powerpoint. Mrs.Sprague said you had found it also. It's from the NAYRE website. Let me know if you don't have it.
I am going to work on my paper tomorrow(monday) so let me know if you need anything, or have anything to help me with :)
Thanks!

Hey Krista,
My paper is not that great, however I did get most of my information off of that powerpoint as well. It was really helpful! I used that website for almost all of my data. What are you using as the counter arguement? The only website I cited in that part was Summermatters.com or org. i can't remember. thanks
good luck on it!
Karen

Hey, sorry I just remembered to look at the website to see if you wrote back!
Ahh our papers are due tomorrow, I am stressing just b/c this paper has so much information, and is kinda overwhelming in ways! But I did learn SO much :)
I hope your paper goes well- and I wish we got talking about all this earlier, we were kind of too late :(
I did see that website, summermatters.com, but it seemed so dumb to me, haha.
Maybe we can get together to talk about the presentation part?? Let me know, email me at krista.blackburn.04@cnu.edu
Talk to ya soon!
Krista
